Time For A Virtual House Cleaning

Day 2 of ? Happiness Journey

Its time for a virtual house cleaning. Yep, like other areas in my life that periodically needs a good scrubbing, Looking at my virtual footprint across social video platforms and even (gasp) my email the task does seem to be a bit daunting…but like other not-so-fun-house-cleaning-tasks (like toilets) the sooner I get started the sooner its done and the good news if you make this a regular to-do it becomes quicker and easier.

What does this have to do with happiness?

So happy you asked. Because I cant think clearly when things are messy. Yep. Its just the way I’m wired. When things go wonky “out there” then the first thing I tend to do first is tidy up my surroundings, open up windows for fresh air, and breathe in the serenity of a sparkly, clean space. And that got me to thinking about my “virtual house” and is it in need of a good scrubbing?

Virtual House Cleaning

In this hyper connected world I happen to have many devices from work phone and computer to all of my personal devices. Sheesh, I had some heavy duty footprints that needed to be wiped up and I’ll be honest for anyone that wants to tackle cleaning up your virtual world IT TAKES TIME.

Is it worth it?

Yep. Its sooo worth it.

At least in my world it makes me happy to start the new year out with a clean slate…so to speak. To help you along I’ve consolidated a few cleaning tips to get you started

Computer

  • Clear the browser cache
  • Empty your trash can
  • Update your security software
  • Review, edit or unsubscribe/unfollow on social media platforms
  • Don’t forget to look at your security profile on all platforms
  • Review, delete or organize email
  • Last step: turn your computer off, then turn it on (reboot!)

Whew – it takes some work. But, boy, does it make me happy to know I’ve tidied up my digital self. I almost feel like I have clean digital big girl panties on and that makes me happy! Let me know how you get on. But be warned – its an adventure that will take you down lots of rabbit holes but so worth it.

Sending you lots of love and happiness.
