Falling in love with life

When I was a girl I would listen to stories about my grandmother traveling to exotic locations – or what sounded exotic to little ears. Who am I kidding… as an adult I’m still fascinated by the adventures she still experiences well into her mid-eighties. She cruised down rivers in South America, rode camels in Egypt and spent holidays in Europe. As exciting as it all sounds, what I remember most is the feeling, and the desire, to wake up in far away places when I grew up. To be honest, I haven’t been to South America or Egypt (yet) but I have been lucky enough to explore a few far away places, as well as my own backyard. Typically a long weekend is a perfect getaway for me. I find its just enough time to shake off the long work weeks, recharging my low batteries.

Exploring my world refreshes mind, body and spirit

Take a day trip into London with me

Take a day trip into London with me. It’s easy to catch the tube and with the right pair of boots and jacket we can make a day of it. It’s about an hour into London on the Piccadilly line. I have the day ahead of me with no agenda. Off We go.

Driftwood Cove, Galveston, Texas

Driftwood Cove

This charming bungalow sits on the East end of Galveston Island. Its a haven that I bought last fall and have enjoyed getting away to. Its minutes away from the Seawall for a day at the beach or a short walk to the Strand with shops and restaurants.

Texas Hill Country

Chapel Hill and Brenham sit a little over an hour outside of Houston. The descriptions of wild flowers online seemed promising, plus it was a shorter drive just in case the rain followed me dampening my picture taking.

Easter break with people I love

It was a quick weekend trip, flying by in a whirl wind. It snowed last night. It’s hard to believe that yesterday was clear and sunny, a beautiful Spring Easter Day.

There is more to Vegas than the Strip

About an hours drive out of Las Vegas sits 40,000 acres of brilliant red sandstone outcrops waiting to be explored – The Valley of Fire. Be prepared to be amazed at nature’s majestic colors. The park offers visitors hiking trails, picnic areas and even camping opportunities. Go early in the day if you can to catch the sun.

Around the corner in your own backyard

I finally found a slice of heaven in the Texas Hill Country at Peach Creek Vineyards. Choosing to sit outside on their covered patio I selected 5 wines to taste while enjoying the easy rocking chair enjoying the view. If you get the chance this is a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
