June Refresh Comes At The Right Time – Time for a Kindness Challenge

“War is a poor chisel to carve out tomorrow.” Martin Luther King Jr

June refresh comes at the right time since the last few months have been filled with enough drama to fuel a daytime-made-for-tv-mini-series. And guess what, it continues with burning down cities, rioting, and civil unrest. All in the name of justice. Seriously?

Its time for a kindness challenge.

You’d think the shutdown of the US economy, unemployment rivaling the great depression and covid-19 that the American population would come together in peace and love. Instead it looks like we are in need of a continued time out to think about our naughtiness like disruptive children.

We need a refresh. If only we could reboot our world and come back online refreshed and ready to take the world into a better place. Maybe we can’t do it collectively right now but I think we can do it individually. Basically its time to remember how to be kind.

Adventures

Looking back over the first half of this year it seems like a refresh in kindness is needed. This month let’s turn to thinking about how we can create adventures in kindness for ourselves and especially for others. What does that look like for you? How can you express kindness in our current drama filled world to sooth the angst with a calming balm of peace?

ACTION: Sometimes a review can help refresh our now. Take time to review the first half of this year. Identify where kindness – yours or others – sparkled. Is kindness in short supply? Or maybe kindness sparkled like diamonds, a string of kindness days creating ropes of togetherness? Maybe it was a hit or miss? Start from there.

Kindness Challenge: In your journal create a rough calendar for the month of June. Our adventure will be to show kindness every day, to yourself or to others. If every day is too much (really?) then go for once a week. But I’m betting that if we each show kindness we can spark a wildfire of love and light in the world. Let’s do this.

Monthly Reads

What are your favorite go to books? Is there a book that takes you to exotic places that you can’t put down?

ACTION: Go back to the list of 12 books in your journal. Have you finished any? If so check them off . Is there another book you’d like to read to help you on your journey to expressing kindness? Need ideas? Head over to goodreads for a list of books to inspire kindness. I’ve also put together a Simple Guide to Creating Your Best Life that’s an easy read that just might fan embers of kindness.

Affirmations

Affirmations are a powerful way to improve your mindset, and studies have shown that they can increase our feelings of self-worth and who doesn’t want that? And we really need that right now. Explore my free affirmation phone wallpapers (backgrounds) I put together to download just for 2020.

ACTION: Choose an affirmation from the list below that resonate with you or come up with one of your own.

  1. I am kind to myself and to others.
  2. Kindness floods my heart and overflows.
  3. Joy and happiness relaxes me.
  4. Making time for myself allows me to be kinder.
  5. I am loved and love completely.

Let me know how it goes. And don’t forget to share your adventures with me over on Facebook or Instagram. And I will do the same. Together we can motivate each other towards crafting an authentic year bringing joy into the unexpected.

Sending you love and happiness!
