Bear’s New Adventures and A Whole Lot of Gratitude

Bear’s new adventures began on a balmy November morning with a PayPal transfer on the Island of a Galveston to a far away city, Dallas.

“It’s done. We can drive up to pick him up next week,” my son said pocketing his phone.

And here I sit, waiting on our new addition with a mix of hope and trepidation. I’ve debated heavily on bringing Bear to live with me. I even told everybody to talk me out of this crazy adventure we are signing up for. But to no avail. I happily handed over the deposit.

My home is empty since my youngest, and only, son moved to the island taking Mr. Abraham and Ms. Lila with him. My empty nest is unsettling to say the least. And between you and me I may have better luck in the relationship department with a dog since I haven’t had much luck in the man department in too many years to count.

Reflecting on Gratitude

I bet you think I forgot about the 30 days of gratitude over at Positively Presents 2019 30 day gratitude challenge. It runs through November with daily topics. day gratitude challenge. Nope, I haven’t forgotten only life sometimes throws us curve balls and we have to adjust. Today’s prompt is Health. Very appropriate for my life at the moment since I’m curled up on my couch recovering from a difficult sinus surgery.

“You’ll thank me in two weeks,” my doctor said.

Mmmmmm. The jury is out.

It’s been a tougher recovery than I thought. Figuring I’d bounce right back I tried to go back to work with my typical long days last week, I was surprised to find exhaustion, fogginess and fever catching me this weekend. After yesterday’s uncomfortable “clean out” at the doctor’s office I stayed home, blessed to attend two online meetings at home before finally putting my laptop down to rest. I wasn’t doing my work any good or myself.

All of this really makes me grateful for our health and, boy, am I looking forward to getting my health back!

Did you know that pets are good for your heath too? According to Harvard Health owning a pet is good for you by keeping you active and reducing stress.

This brings me back to Bear. I’m ready to open my heart and my home to this little guy. I’m pretty sure he will keep me on my toes, love me unconditionally and drive me crazy too. Sounds like a wonderful adventure to begin.

Sending you love and happiness. ❤️
