Have I mentioned how blessed I am lately? Life is a roller coaster at times with dips, turns, deep valleys and incredible heart churning heights. But through it all faith keeps me steady.
It’s been an interesting year so far. As September ends and October begins I’m reflecting on the journey so far while rain falls outside my door, flooding island streets.
Blessings, good, bad and somewhere in the middle
- January came and went leaving my family a little worn and worse for wear. But sometimes God has plans that we don’t always understand during rough patches. Unfortunately it set the tone for the year and it’s been a work in progress filled with changes and mitigations.
- February plans shifted and twisted. The fall out on social media surprised me how quickly it spread into our real world with threats and hatred.
- Weekend trip to Vegas in March followed by connecting with girlfriends in Colorado shortly after were heart filled blessings. It’s important to connect with people who make your world sparkle.
- By April it was time to sell a house. It was clear that it was time to close that chapter to help my kid find some mental relief.
- At the end of May I made my way home to Alaska for a week. It was exactly what I needed after a month filled with propping up my family.
- An offer on the house came in June. Moving family, relationship endings, and emotional escalations slash interventions was the theme of the month.
- July heated up the summer days as well as my job. My project was nearing the end which meant I headed to Buenos Aires for a week. My quiet home filled with returning family’s laughter.
- August arrived with searching for another home to replace the one being sold. Only this one would be near the beach – a dream I’ve had for awhile. I also turned 51 with a new hair stylist hoping to change it up a bit.
- And here we are in September with a tiny island home to escape to. Welcome to R&R Bungalow.
