Exploring the Layers of Love Through the Heart Chakra
This is my fourth time connecting with the Heart Chakra. Every visit feels like a warm hug with this beautiful, green energy. What I’ve come to appreciate is how incredibly vast this chakra is. Love, after all, isn’t just one thing. It’s not just romantic or familial. Instead, it shows up in infinite ways, each one offering its own kind of magic.
A few years ago, I wrote a blog post lightly touching on the different types of love, from agape to eros, and even playful philia. Reflecting on it now, I see how the Heart Chakra holds space for all of them. It’s like a bridge. It connects us to the full spectrum of love. This includes self-love, love for others, love for the world, and everything in between.
With an open heart and a spirit of curiosity, I am stepping into today. I am ready to embrace the many ways love speaks through the Heart Chakra. Let’s dive in.
Heart Chakra Cards That Know How to Tug at the Heartstrings

The universe sent me a trio of cards today. Each one brought its own lesson for my Heart Chakra journey.
First came Instinct from the Chakra Wisdom Oracle. It whispered to me about trusting my gut when it comes to love. You know, that little inner voice that nudges you toward what feels right. Whether it’s choosing kindness over conflict or letting yourself enjoy an apple fritter instead of a kale smoothie, Instinct reminded me that love often starts with intuition.
Next was Joy from the Feminine Wisdom Oracle. This card radiated pure happiness and felt like it was okay to take my morning walk and donut adventure. Joy reminded me that opening our hearts doesn’t always mean grand gestures. It’s all about the little things, like sunshine, birdsong, and the occasional sugar rush.
And finally, Strength made a surprise entrance, practically jumping out of the deck. It was here to remind me that while love can be soft and gentle, it also requires courage. Keeping an open heart in a world that sometimes feels overwhelming is no small feat. Together, these cards painted a picture of love as intuitive, joyful, and strong. Yes, this is the ultimate Heart Chakra trifecta.
With each revisit to this chakra, I feel like I’m deepening my understanding of what love truly is. It’s not always grand gestures or perfect moments. Sometimes, love is taking your little dog for a morning walk. It can be stopping to admire the trees. Love is even indulging in an apple fritter from the local donut shop. It’s in the way we show up for ourselves, our community, and the world around us.
A Morning Walk, Apple Fritter, and Tail-Wagging Therapy

To kick things off, I leashed up my little dog and headed out for a morning walk. Watching his tail wag like he’s won the lottery never fails to lift my mood. We strolled through the neighborhood, surrounded by green trees that seemed to radiate the energy of growth and balance. The warm, humid air was laced with fragrant flowers. Freshly mowed grass added to the vibrant scent, with chirping birds singing as if they were auditioning for a nature soundtrack.
On our way back, we stopped by the local donut shop. I couldn’t resist grabbing an apple fritter, which was sweet, sticky, and completely worth it. Sure, it’s not exactly the color green, but it felt green in spirit, uplifting and joyful, like a little hug for my taste buds. Sometimes self-love is letting yourself enjoy a donut and embracing the stickiness that comes with it.
Heart Chakra Green Vibes and Gentle Gestures
Over the last month, we’ve learned the Heart Chakra thrives on the color green. It’s fresh, vibrant, and reminds me of the trees during our walk, standing tall and peaceful. It’s also the color that brings a sense of renewal, like hitting the refresh button on your emotional state.
To connect with this energy, I once again tried to practice the Mudra. I paired this with the mantra: “I am open to love, and I give and receive with ease. My heart is full.” Saying these words made me feel like I was starring in a romantic comedy montage. Only this time, I was falling in love with the universe.
Love in All Its Forms
Rachel’s assignment today had me reflecting on the many ways love shows up in my life. As I thought about love in all its forms, enjoying my cup of coffee with my little dog snoozing nearby, I explored her thoughtful prompts.
For me, love on a personal level is about showing up. It’s listening without judgment, offering kindness, or even forgiving myself when I spill coffee on my chakra booklet (because yes, that happened). Communal love brought to mind my amazing Ave K neighbors. Preparing for our block party this Sunday feels like a celebration of the connection we’ve built, because nothing says “community” like food, laughter, and the occasional neighbor who forgets to bring chairs (me).
Finally, I reflected on global love. Small acts of kindness, like donating to a cause or simply smiling at a stranger, can ripple outward. They create positive change, even life altering change. Rachel’s challenge was all about committing to actions rooted in love. For myself, I practiced self-care with heart-opening meditation and forgave myself for burnt cookies last week. For my community, I reached out to a neighbor about block party prep since I was coordinating food. Globally, I sent prayers for a peaceful resolution for all the conflicts around the world and here in the States.
Essential Oils, Crystals, and a Side of Apple Fritter
To support my Heart Chakra, I diffused rose essential oil. Its soft floral scent felt grounding and soothing, like a gentle nudge from the universe. I kept rose quartz and green aventurine close, both of which radiate love and healing energy. And let’s not forget the apple fritter. Was it textbook Heart Chakra food? No. Did it bring me joy? Absolutely. Sometimes love is messy, sweet, and unapologetically sticky.
Looking Ahead to More Heart Chakra Energy
As Day 26 comes to a close, I feel deeply connected to my Heart Chakra. It’s glowing, open, and ready to keep exploring the limitless capacity for love. Whether it’s self-love, communal connection, or global kindness, this chakra teaches us that love isn’t just a feeling. It’s a choice, an action, and a way of showing up for life.
Tomorrow, I’ll carry this energy forward, continuing to explore the transformative power of love as we move into the Throat Chakra. But for today, I’m savoring the sweetness of this moment, apple fritter, tail-wagging therapy, and all.
