Grounding, Stability, and Reflection
As we come to Day 9 of our chakra journey, we’re revisiting the Root Chakra. Our foundation, our anchor, our connection to the Earth. This chakra, located at the base of the spine, governs our feelings of safety, stability, and security in the physical world. Its mantra, “I am grounded, I am secure,” is both a call and a commitment to align with this energy.
This time around, we’re spicing things up. We are introducing the Root Chakra Mudra. It is a powerful hand gesture that’s not just fancy finger yoga. It genuinely helps enhance your grounding experience. To practice this mudra, sit comfortably (or as comfortably as your knees and back will allow), rest your hands on your knees, and touch the tips of your thumb and index finger together, forming a perfect little circle. Now, keep the other fingers extended outward. You’re basically mimicking that emoji everyone uses for “chef’s kiss.”
This simple yet intentional gesture isn’t just for looking spiritually chic. It actually channels energy to your Root Chakra, fostering a zen-like balance and stability while you meditate or reflect. Don’t worry if you feel a little funny doing it. Let’s just embrace the elegance of our inner chakra-master and go with it!
Tuning into the Root Chakra
When I pull cards, it feels like I’m stepping into a sacred space. A space where trust, intuition, and guidance come together. This morning, I drew Metis in Colette Baron-Reid’s Goddess deck who embodies wisdom and intellect. Metis reminds me that wisdom is not fixed. It’s ever evolving, urging me to ask questions with courage, explore deeper truths, and trust that the answers I need are within and around me, just waiting for the right moment to surface. How perfect for today as we dive deeper into the Root Chakra.

At the same time, I anchor myself in the divine love spoken of in 1 John 4:8: “God is love.” This verse is my reminder that love is the foundation of everything. It softens my perspective, deepens my understanding, and sharpens my intuition. Through love, I see the cards not just as symbols, but as messengers of connection and grace.
Why?
Metis is guiding me toward reflection and discernment, while God’s love holds me steady and sure. It’s a beautiful balance of wisdom and love, intellect and heart, grounding and transcendence. Who knew a deck of cards and a Bible verse could be such a dynamic duo, like Batman and Robin, or peanut butter and jelly? Together, they ask me to explore what’s waiting to be revealed. And let’s be honest, with this kind of cosmic tag team, I’m ready to navigate anything. Whether it’s the mysteries of the universe or just finding my car keys.
Are You Ready for the Dive into the Root Chakra, the Muladhara?
Unlike our earlier exploration into the Muladhara, today’s focus is more reflective. This isn’t about skimming the surface; we’re diving deep into the very foundation of who we are. It’s like having a heartfelt conversation with yourself—no interruptions, unless your little dog decides to stage a surprise cuddle attack. With Rachel guiding us from the heart, today’s journey feels even more meaningful, as she encourages us to anchor ourselves in trust, openness, and connection.
The assignment invites me to answer some big, essential questions, probing into my relationship with stability and my connection to the physical world. Rachel’s warmth reminds me to approach these questions with curiosity and compassion, creating space to truly listen to what surfaces. So, let’s get comfy, get grounded, and uncover what the Root Chakra has been so patiently waiting to reveal.
What aspects of my life make me feel grounded and secure?
When I pause to reflect, it’s clear that the people and spaces I hold dear are my anchors. My sense of groundedness comes from my relationships with family (yes, that includes my puppy dog!), my little home that wraps me in comfort, and even the routines that provide a sense of predictability in an unpredictable world. These are the aspects of my life that remind me I have a foundation, even when life feels shaky.
How can I strengthen my sense of stability and connection to the physical world?
Strengthening this connection starts with being intentional. For me, it’s about taking the time to step outside; walking my dog, feeling the sun on my skin, or simply putting my toes in the sand and water I am blessed to live by. It’s also about investing in self-care, like eating nourishing meals and finding moments of stillness in my day. These small, simple acts ground me in the present and bring me back to the here and now.
Reflecting on my upbringing and early experiences, how have they shaped my sense of safety and security in the world today?
Our early experiences lay the groundwork for how we view stability and security. Growing up, I may not have always felt the sense of rootedness I needed, and that’s something I carry with me today. But understanding this has allowed me to seek out ways to create my own sense of safety as an adult, to rewrite the narrative, and to give myself the grounding that wasn’t always there before.
What daily habits or practices can I incorporate to enhance my physical vitality and strengthen my connection to the earth and nature?
This is where the Root Chakra truly shines. Daily practices like grounding yoga poses, mindful movement, or simply spending time outdoors can-do wonders for staying connected. Even taking the time to drink water with gratitude or preparing a meal with intention strengthens that bond with the physical world. These small habits build resilience and remind me that vitality comes from nurturing both the body and the soul.
How do I currently feel about my financial stability and security? Are there any beliefs or attitudes I hold about money that may be impacting my sense of groundedness?
Money—what a love-hate relationship we have, right? It can feel like one of the biggest sources of groundedness…or the reason we’re spiraling in a whirlwind of “Oh no, I forgot about that bill!” Reflecting on my own financial stability, I’ve noticed where I feel secure and where my fears or limiting beliefs like to pop up for an uninvited visit. Growing up with a scarcity mindset is like learning to eat cereal with water instead of milk—it sticks with you, even when there’s enough in the fridge now.
Revisiting my relationship with money is kind of feels like persuading my little dog to take a bath. It’s challenging, but surprisingly worth the effort. It’s an ongoing journey. Every step helps me feel more rooted and less like I’m floating aimlessly in the sea of financial distress. As you know, prices are skyrocketing, and stocks are plummeting right now (hold onto your seat belt!). The only thing I can do is trust that God has us (and my retirement) in his hands.
We will get through this.
We got this.
Grounding with the Root Chakra
Revisiting the Root Chakra on Day 9 has been both grounding and enlightening. It’s not just about feeling stable in a physical sense. It’s about understanding how I show up in my own life. It’s about how I find my footing during uncertain times and how I lean into the support available to me. Today’s reflection questions encouraged me to dig deeper into my foundation. They pushed me to identify where I feel secure. They also urged me to explore ways to actively cultivate more stability in my life.
As I move forward, I’ve realized that grounding isn’t a one-and-done activity. It’s a practice—a daily commitment to staying connected to the Earth, to myself, and to the present moment. It lives in the rituals I cherish, the moments I pause to breathe, and the small ways I nurture gratitude and self-compassion. With this in mind, I hold close the mantra: “I am grounded, I am secure.”
As my roots grow deeper, I’m reminded that grounding lays the foundation for everything else in life. Tomorrow, as we revisit the Sacral Chakra, I’ll be exploring how this sense of stability supports creativity, flow, and emotional connection. The journey doesn’t stop here; it’s all connected, and I’m ready to see where it leads.
