Connecting to the Crown Chakra (Sahasrara)
Today, we’re stepping into the realm of the Crown Chakra (Sahasrara)—the seventh and final (for this challenge) energy center in the chakra system. Positioned at the top of the head, the Crown Chakra represents enlightenment, spiritual connection, and our ability to feel unity with the greater universe. It’s the rooftop terrace of the soul, where we’re invited to rise above the noise, trust in the divine, and embrace boundless possibilities.
The Crown Chakra thrives on stillness, presence, and a sense of surrender. When aligned, it offers an unshakable connection to purpose and peace. When imbalanced, however, it can leave us feeling disconnected or stuck in overthinking. Balancing this chakra is about softening the mind, opening the heart, and simply being. Are you ready for this?
A Moment of Silence
This morning, I woke with the Sound of Silence by Simon & Garfunkel playing in my mind, before I even saw the assignment for today. Coincidence? I can almost hear the Universe chuckling. Released in the early 1960s, this song launched the careers of two young musicians into worldwide fame. And here it was, echoing through my thoughts, a gentle whisper to embrace stillness.
Hello darkness, my old friend
Simon & Garfunkel
I’ve come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains within the sound of silence
Morning of Connection and Grief

Early mornings, school drop-offs, and early morning meetings are regular occurrences for me in a life brimming with responsibilities. Yet, today felt different. The Crown Chakra exercise reminded me that connection isn’t always about doing; sometimes, it’s simply about being. You didn’t hear that sigh, did you?
Instead of pulling oracle cards as I often do, I turned to my beloved, worn creative bible which was gifted to me years ago by my lovely aunt. Don’t look too closely. Little Bear’s puppy teeth marks on the corners might give away that he had his own taste of the divine. These bibles have doodles, coloring pages, and highlighting space. They are a beautiful way to connect with God, yourself, and others through creativity. I love them so much that when my granddaughter asked for one, I found her a teen version.
Warning: Discomfort Lies Ahead
This morning, as I flipped through its pages, I stumbled across a folded note, a prayer I’d tucked away. It brought a sudden wave of emotion as I connected to the Crown Chakra’s energy, listening and having a conversation with God. Sometimes, when something touches my heart deeply—whether for myself, someone else, or even a passing moment I’ll write a prayer and tuck it into my bible.
Today, that tucked-away prayer, referencing Proverbs 19:21, served as a bittersweet reminder. Grief washed over me as the words spilled into the present. They brought back pain that never goes away. A mother’s grief, raw and profound. I don’t remember when I wrote this (those days run together in my memory). I see the date. Do I remember? No, but I do feel the emotion, the disbelief, the vast changes in all of our lives and the fear of what was to come.

Nov, 7, 2023
Amanda died.
My daughter, my child,
My love, my friend,
My rock died.
My heart is broken.
Days continue to come & go.
Yet I just want it to stop.
I need grace.
I need patience.
I need an angel.
Lift me up.
Show me the way.
Light the path.
Shine a light.
Peace. Allah. Peace.
Amen
Time to go breathe. Wash my face. Walk my dog. Dive into work. I’ll be back later. 💜
Delete or Not to Delete?
I hovered over the delete key for what felt like an eternity. Should I share this raw, painful moment? Or keep it hidden? For now, I’ll keep it. When I committed to this 30-day chakra challenge, I promised myself to show up authentically. Amanda leaving, like she simply popped down to the corner store, is very much a part of my story and one I’ll share more about – but later when I find my voice.
I spritz my face with aloe, chamomile, and lavender facial spray, silently whispering to myself, “I can do this.”
I got this.
But baby steps.
Let’s Chat About the Crown Chakra or Sahasrara
The Crown Chakra, or Sahasrara, is the pinnacle of divine connection and spiritual awakening. Guided by serene violet and white hues, it represents purity, unity, and the merging of individual self with the universal “we’re all in this together” kind of vibe.
When balanced, Sahasrara brings peace, purpose, and a profound connection to higher self and spirit. But when it’s out of alignment, it can lead to feelings of disconnection or a loss of direction. Even the most enlightened rooftop sometimes needs a bit of TLC, right?
Self-Assessment for Sahasrara
Rachel’s insights on the Crown Chakra have been a guiding light throughout this journey, reminding me that spiritual connection isn’t just about seeking—it’s also about allowing. Sahasrara asks us to soften, to surrender, to trust. And if I’m being honest, trust has never been my strongest suit.
Today’s worksheets led me straight to an undeniable truth:
- Behavioral Blockages: Difficulty staying present and mindful—big, bold yes.
Acknowledging this felt less like admitting defeat and more like cracking open a window to awareness. The Crown Chakra isn’t about forcing connection; it’s about letting it flow. And that’s exactly what I’m working toward. One breath, one moment at a time.
Crown Chakra Nourishment: A Simple Herbal Tea Ritual
Embracing Sahasrara’s ethereal energy, I created a calming tea ritual to nurture connection and presence.
Ingredients: (a calming chamomile or lavender tea bag will work too!)
- 1 teaspoon dried lavender
- 1 teaspoon dried chamomile flowers
- 1 teaspoon dried lemon balm
- Honey or lemon (optional)
Instructions:
- Combine the dried herbs in a teapot or infuser.
- Pour boiling water over the herbs and let steep for 5–7 minutes.
- Strain into a mug, add honey or lemon if desired, and sip mindfully.
Let the soothing flavors unfold and simply be. It’s not just about the drink. It’s about honoring the sacred pause. It involves the invitation to trust in something greater and the gentle unfolding of divine wisdom in the quiet.
Crown Chakra Soul Prayer
Divine Light,
Lift me beyond the noise, beyond the doubt, beyond the limits I have placed upon myself.
May my heart be open, my mind be clear, and my spirit be free.
Guide me in trust, in surrender, in knowing that I am connected to something greater.
Let wisdom flow, let peace settle, let love expand.
I release, I receive, I am.
Amen.
Surrender & Connection
As I close out today’s reflection, I’m deeply grateful for this journey. It’s been eight days of exploration, growth, and connection. Each chakra has offered its own lesson, gently guiding me to pause, reflect, and embrace something new. From grounding into the root to expanding into the crown, this challenge has been a beautiful unfolding of self-awareness and presence.
The Crown Chakra reminds me that surrender isn’t about losing control. It’s about trusting. Trusting in the wisdom of the path, trusting in divine timing, trusting in the quiet knowing that we are already connected. As I move into Day 9, repeating the chakra days, I do so with an open heart, carrying the gifts of each chakra forward, knowing that this journey is far from over. It’s simply evolving.
