2020, just around the corner, is waiting to unfold. Like many of you, I’m looking forward to what’s ahead but before I leap into the new year I want to release 2019 with compassion. Because 2019 challenged me. And I need a lot of compassion. Know what I mean?
“I wish I could just delete 2019,” I said, looking back over the last 12 months of blog posts. The dogs just looked at me, ears cocked, before closing their eyes, ignoring me as I flipped through the posts. I could see my heart wasn’t in it. I didn’t post regularly. The content wasn’t there. It was a mess. Just like me this year.
2019 Gritty Highlights
- Traveled a lot for work and a little for fun
- I’ve been laid off, then extended for another year in a job I’ve lost joy in, but thrilled I still have an income.
- 2 vehicles totaled in 2 months which I’m sure is a record somewhere.
- Over 50 dating and relating ups and downs…mostly downs
- Went to a therapist for the first time who reminded me to count my blessings.
- Sinus surgery, vertigo and catching airplane bugs.
- Brought little Bear home, our curious Maltese puppy.
Conclusion
Some years are just effing hard. That’s life. No one has been promised rainbows and unicorns. There’s just times when life gets hard. But what you need to know is that’s life. You take one step. Then take another step. Eventually those tough times are behind.
